Be sure to provide the post office with a change of address form so that your friends, family, creditors, doctors, dentists, and all other service providers will be informed of your new home. (You may also obtain an IRS change of address form by calling 1-800-829-1040. This form may also be obtained from the IRS website. Or try our link to Form 8822)
Be sure to inform not only the electric, cable, trash service and telephone company of which you currently have service with your intention to move, but also the company that will provide your new service prior to your move date. This will prevent a delay in service to your new address and also prevent unnecessary billing after you have moved.

Prepare yourself a "move File". Once the move is complete, you will need a handy record of expenses incurred during the move to help you determine which expenses can be written off on your next tax return.
During your packing process, make sure that all boxes are securely taped both on the bottom and the top.
Anything that needs to be disassembled, for example, mirrors taken off dressers, headboards unbolted, and washer and dryers disconnected should be done ahead of time, this will not only save you save time but also make for a more efficient and productive move. |
6.
|
Make sure that you have set aside all important documents that will need to be readily available during and right after the move.
|
7.
|
Place all packing supplies, including markers, wrapping materials, a pocketknife and even a tape measure in one convenient place so that they are not packed by mistake. |

Try not to pack boxes over 50 pounds and also make sure they taped securely. Remember you have to be lifting those boxes. If the box is heavy the bottom may fall out.
Make sure you are using a tape that is heavy duty such as duck or box tape so that it does not break. (DO NOT USE MASKING TAPE)

Mark your boxes well so that you will be able to organize your unpacking during that time. |

Of course as always take precaution to the health of your indoor beauties. Plan on taking them also in the car or finding new homes for them.
