Before you hand over your keys to your old home, make sure you walk through your old home once more. This is the perfect time to reminisce the memories you have for your home, but also to make sure you don’t leave anything behind.
Cabinets, Closets and Drawers
Go through all your cabinets, closets and drawers around the house. Especially in the bathrooms, as humans we tend to forget certain things that are kept high up. It’s better to go through each one maybe 2 or 3 times.
Turn Off Electricity
As you are going through each room checking through closets, cabinets and drawers make sure you turn off the lights. If you leave an appliance behind (i.e. stove) make sure you turn it off as well rather that’s unplugging it or the nubs are pointing to OFF.
Walk Through and Check Outlets
While you’re expecting your rooms make sure you check all the electrical outlets. You could easily leave behind a charger or an important cord.
Utility Meters
So that you won’t be stuck paying the new owner/tenant’s bill on utilities make sure you take a picture of the utility meter before you leave. This will save you a headache and money dealing with the bill collectors!
